Donny and Marie Osmond Pay Tribute to Oldest Brother Virl on His 74th Birthday

The singing sibling duo Donny and Marie Osmond paid heartfelt tributes to their eldest brother Virl on social media as he turned 74.

The eldest of the Osmond clan, Virl Osmond, turned 74 yesterday, but the day was not complete without tributes from his famous younger ones, Donny and Marie Osmond.

To mark their elder brother's special day, the singing duo took to social media to shower him praises, Closer Weekly reports.

Donny took to Instagram to share a selfie of him, and Virl dressed in suits. The sweet photo was captioned:

"Wishing my oldest brother, Virl, a wonderful birthday! We're so lucky to have you as the leader of our Osmond pack. #MyHero#TheOsmonds"

However, the 61-year-old didn't stop there. Proving that he is all about family, Donny also went on Twitter to celebrate his elder brother.

This time, he took fans on a trip down memory lane with a throwback photo of the entire Osmond siblings as children.

In the nostalgic image, a younger Virl was seen holding baby Donny while the older siblings were seated on their own, dressed in white shirts and colored bow ties.

The sweet tweet read:

"#HappyBirthday to Virl, our oldest brother and leader of the Osmond pack! We've come a long way since you were holding me in your arms like this. Thank you for teaching us everything that a brother should be. Sure love you! #TheOsmonds"

Marie was obviously not left out of the celebration. The other half of the singing duo, Donny & Marie, took to her Instagram to share several snapshots of Virl having fun by himself.

In the accompanying caption, "The Talk" co-host joked that her brother looked like their dad, but unfortunately couldn't steal the heart of their mom.

She ended her shout-out, saying that she "couldn't love her brother anymore!" Virl is the eldest of nine children of the Osmond musical family who achieved fame for his singing career.

Virl, who was named after their late father, was born with a hearing disability. However, he didn't allow that to deter him.

While speaking to Herald Extra, Virl revealed that he taught the Osmond Brothers how to dance and captivate the audience with their act. He said:

"When they became well-known as a barbershop quartet, my mother, Olive, sent me to tap dancing classes so that I would not feel left out. I came back and taught the boys to dance."

He currently lives with his wife Chris and their two dogs. They have seven children together.
