Lauren Alaina of DWTS Shares Touching Tribute to Her Late Stepdad a Year after His Passing

After Lauren Alaina shares a touching tribute for her stepfather, fans and celebrities show her support as she grieves over the one-year anniversary of his death.

"He was always my champion. He was always my number one fan. Now he's my guardian angel. I can't believe my stepdad has been gone a year today"

"This is going to be an extremely hard day for my family, but I know Sam is with us and is so proud of us all. I am dancing for you tonight Sammy. I'm giving mom all the biggest hugs she deserves. We miss you. See you on The Other Side," she concludes.

Alaina's touching tribute didn't go unnoticed, many of her adoring fans and celebrity friends sent her messages of support. One fan comments:

"He's so so proud of you Lauren! ? I love you!"

"If you need anything at all today I'm here for you," responded "Queer Eye" star Karamo Brown.

In August, the country star announced that she was putting her "That Girl Was Me" tour on hold to participate in "Dancing With The Stars."

Alaina revealed that she had to make the difficult decision to choose one project because she wouldn't have been able to fully commit herself if she tried to do both.

Last night, in honor of her late stepfather she danced to a song she had written for him, titled; "The Other Side." Explaining her tribute, Alaina says:

"I know the strength to get through this performance came straight from the Lord and my stepdad Sam. This dance wasn't just for my family, but it was for all families who have lost someone they love."

"I will never be able to express the gratitude I have for @glebsavchenkoofficial and @dancingabc for letting me share my stepdad's beautiful life and story. He is in a better place watching over my family," she continues.

Earlier in her career Alaina revealed, she sometimes found it challenging to perform songs that she has written about her personal life.

However, she admits that writing about the difficult times in her life has helped her connect with her fans because it allows her to relate to people going through similar experiences.
