Helen Mirren Talks Being Mistaken for Keanu Reeves' Rumored Girlfriend Alexandra Grant

Helen Mirren has responded to the case of mistaken identity in which some Keanu Reeves fans think she's his age-appropriate girlfriend.

While much of the public wrongly believes that Mirren, 74, is the new rumored girlfriend of "Matrix" star Keanu Reeves, that title goes to contemporary artist Alexandra Grant.

ET caught up with Mirren as she strutted on the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie "The Good Liar." Her response to the mixup is found below.

Mistaken fans' comments

People can't be blamed too much for the misunderstanding. Both Mirren and Grant sport short hair and showcase slim figures. Grant keeps her hair gray, however, while Mirren sports a faded blonde look.

One person said: "I wasn't wearing my glasses at first and I legit thought he was dating Helen Mirren which I also would have been here for."

Another added:

"Did anyone else thought when they saw the image of Keanu Reeves with his new partner that she looked like Helen Mirren at first? xD."

In a twist, a woman claiming to be Reeves' age said she's more attracted to him than ever before for dating someone her age "who kinda looks like Helen Mirren."

Mirren's gracious response

On the red carpet, Mirren told ET:

"I saw that (twitter comments). That was very flattering on me, you know, because she's obviously lovely."

What a sweet compliment from Mirren. She, of course, has her own thing going on with husband Taylor Hackford who she's been married to for 22 years.

Reeves and Mirren do know each other though — "very well," according to the Oscar-winning actress. She reminded ET that Reeves did a film with her husband and called the actor an "adorable, lovely person."

Mirren was referring to the 1997 movie, "The Devil's Advocate," which her husband directed at the time. She added that Grant is "lucky" to have Reeves and likewise the "John Wick" actor is probably lucky as well.

Reeves and Grant's long history

Indeed, if the rumors are true, Reeves and Grant have a lot to back a healthy relationship. The pair have long been spotted together prior to their show of affection in Los Angeles.

Yet seeing them hold hands over the weekend at the LACMA Art + Film Gala gave the renewed impression that their relationship had reached new heights.

The acclaimed artist would be the first romantic partner publicly associated with Reeves since his relationship with Jennifer Syme in the '90s.

Reeves' tumultuous past

According to People, the pair allegedly split up while grieving their eight-month-old stillborn daughter. Sadly, Syme died in 2001 when she got into a car accident.

Reeves' painful past also includes his father's abandonment and, in 1993, the death of close friend River Phoenix. We hope his alleged new relationship will bring positivity to his world.
