Peta Murgatroyd Is a Proud Mom to Son Shai - Meet the DWTS Pro's Only Child

Peta Murgatroyd danced her way into her fans' hearts with her incredible dance moves in "Dancing With The Stars," but there is one special person who danced his way into hers in 2017. That person is none other than her adorable son, Shai.

Peta Murgatroyd and her husband, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, became parents for the first time when they welcomed their only child, Shai Aleksander Chmerkovskiy, on January 4, 2017.

Peta and Maksim have brilliant chemistry on-screen as well as off-screen. The pair got married in 2017 after being in a relationship for 8 years.

However, Peta never thought she would date Maksim when they met for the first time.

HOW PETA AND MAKSIM ENDED UP TOGETHER

The dancer shared how she felt about her now-husband with US Weekly.

"I never thought that we were going to be together," she said after revealing that it was a thought that never even crossed her mind.

In fact, Peta shared with Health Magazine that she and Maksim never really had an official first date.

"I feel like we didn’t actually have an official first date, because ... it was funny, I was just a bit worried about a situation on the second season of 'Dancing with the Stars. And he said, 'Do you want to talk about it over dinner?'"

THEN SHAI CAME INTO THEIR LIVES

It was only after they went on that date when Peta realized that things could go further with Maksim. According to her, Maksim was a total gentleman and walked her to her apartment door after their date.

Eight years later, the couple welcomed their only child, Shai and the same year, they walked down the aisle to start their life as a husband and wife.

Peta and her husband love their son to the moon and back. “The amount of love that you have for your child, it just amazes me every day," Peta told Closer Weekly.

Maksim and Shai are the only ones who can cheer Peta up when she has a bad day.

A BUNDLE OF JOY

Peta cannot have enough of Shai's cuteness! “He’s the cutest little munchkin. I fall more in love with him every day,” she gushed about him in an interview with Life and Style.

She also feels like her son is feisty like his father and emotional like herself. What's more, Peta even shares her love of dancing with her little one.

Back in September, Shai witnessed his mother dance for the first time. "He says, ‘Mumma dance work’ and it warms my heart," she shared in an Instagram post.

The pro dancer is glad that she can share her passions with her son at a young age.
