Michael Douglas of 'The Kominsky Method' Fame Shares Birthday Wishes to Oldest Son Cameron as He Turns 41

Cameron Douglas was showered with birthday messages by his family and received a special tribute message from his father, Michael Douglas.

Michael Douglas' oldest son, Cameron Douglas is an actor, father, recovering addict, and now an author. In a birthday message Michael wrote:

"All my love, pride, and birthday wishes to my oldest son, Cameron. What a wonderful way to finish your year with the success of your book #LongWayHome. May your new year bring you joy and happiness! Love, Dad."

Michael has been married twice, and he has two teenage children with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Dylan and Carys.

Cameron is his first child from his marriage to movie producer, Diandra Luker. She had him when she was 20-years-old. In response to his father's Instagram post, he thanks him for the message.

After battling severe drug addiction for years, then being released from prison in 2016, Michael has plenty of reasons to be proud of his son.

In a joint interview with Good Morning America he admits to his son that at the height of his addiction, he didn't think that Cameron would make it alive because of the lifestyle he was living.

In his recently released memoir, titled, "Long Way Home" Cameron shares his story of addiction. Speaking about the success of his memoir and the hopes he has for it, he said:

"But what I'm really happiest about is the way this book is being received and my hope is that it's really going to be able to connect with people [who are] struggling with addiction and families dealing with loved ones struggling with addiction."

The Douglas family has many reasons to celebrate this month. They recently celebrated the 103rd birthday for the family patriarch, Kirk Douglas.

Both men honored the legend with heart-felt messages about how much of an inspiration he is to them and expressed their love for the veteran actor.

Kirk's birthday was made extra special by the news of the Golden Globe announcement that Michael was nominated for best actor in a TV series musical or comedy for "The Kominsky Method."

This is his second time he has been nominated for the award. Last year he took home the honor for his role as Sandy Kominsky.
