Unlike the relationship he had growing up with his father, Michael and his eldest son, Cameron Douglas, have had a difficult relationship because of his son's drug addiction.

In recent years he has turned his life around, and the two have reconnected. Commenting on the post, Cameron responded with a congratulatory message for the nomination.

Netflix's "The Kominsky Method" has been on the air for two seasons. Michael is nominated for best actor – TV series musical or comedy, for his role as Sandy Kominsky.

Last year he won the Golden Globe for the same role and dedicated the award to his father, Kirk. His competition is just as tough this year. He is nominated along with Living with Yourself's Paul Rudd and Ramy's Ramy Youssef, and Barry's Bill Hader, The Politician's Ben Platt.

His birthday tribute didn't just end there; he also shared another personal birthday to Kirk with a picture of himself kissing his father gently on the forehead.

In his message, he calls him "a living legend" and sends a message of love on behalf of the whole family.

Not to be outdone by her husband, Catherine Zeta-Jones sent her own birthday message to her father-in-law and jokes about him sitting on her lap.

In her caption, she shares his nickname by calling him "Pappy," and she continues her message by expressing her love for him.

During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," Michael revealed that after turning 100-years-old in 2016, Kirk is getting tired of the family throwing him a big party every year.

He joked saying that this year he begged them, almost to the point of tears not to throw a big bash and instead preferred an intimate dinner with just family and friends.
