Both Rod Stewart and Elton John have had successful careers as artists and a colorful friendship that spanned for over 50 years.

However, things may have changed after Stewart criticized Elton’s farewell global tour as “money-grabbing” and described his friend’s biopic negatively.

TOO LATE FOR APOLOGIES

During his appearance on an American television chat show, Stewart commented about Elton’s retirement, which was accompanied by a series of concerts.

He criticized the stint of a scheme to make money instead of showcasing rock ‘n’ roll. He also noted that if he were to retire, he would not make a big deal of it and just “fade away.”

The two have been competitive for some time but maintained a close friendship, yet the recent comments may have crossed the line.

The singer ultimately apologized for his harsh words but may have been too late as all has been said and done. He confirmed that he and Elton have not been in speaking terms because of his foul description.

Elton recently began the fourth leg of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, which is set to end in December 2020, at London’s O2 Arena.

ATTACKING ELTON’S BIOPIC

Furthermore, Stewart took a jab at Elton’s biopic, “Rocketman,” and said it lived up to Freddie Mercury’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” He also criticized the dancing and compared it to that of “Mama Mia’s.”

STEWART DEFEATS CANCER

Last September, the iconic singer shared that he has been cleared from prostate cancer after a two-year-long battle. The singer said:

“Two years ago, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody. I’m in the clear now simply because I caught it early. I have so many tests.”

The singer hoped that his revelation could help those suffering from the same illness know of it at an early stage by getting tested.

Stewart also encouraged men to take a trip to the doctor and get checked as it is a severe matter that kills 11,000 men every year.
