Gabourey Sidibe is mourning the loss of one of her beloved pets, and she shared the news with fans in a heartbreaking Instagram post.
It seems like Gabby Sidibe started 2020 with the wrong foot. The “Empire” star took to Instagram on January 3 to share some sad news: her boyfriend’s cat, Peaches, passed away.

ONE OF THE FAMILY
Although Peaches had been with Gabby’s boyfriend Brandon Franklin for over 11 years, once Sidibe and her cat Aaron joined the family, the actress embraced the feline as if it was hers.
Gabby posted three pics of the lovely Peaches and added in her caption:
“With a heavy heart, I say goodbye to this sweet, dainty lady, Peaches. Our pets aren’t around for long, to remind us to love them, each other, and ourselves entirely while we still can. Thank you, Peach, for your protection and your perfection.”
The “Precious” star added that Peaches would be missed by her, her dad Brandon, and Aaron, who “is doing his best to console us.”
FANS’ CONDOLENCES
Fans and friends of the relatively new couple took over Sidibe’s comment section to express their condolences.
“Sending you so much love!!!!!!! I'm so sorry, Gabby,” wrote one user.
Another added, “Awwwww Miss Peaches, enjoy your catnip and feather toys in heaven, sweet girl!”
And a third one said:
“I’m so sorry. I enjoyed watching and reading about Peaches and Aaron’s antics. Wherever she is, I hope she knew how much we all loved her beautiful face.”
COMFORTING EACH OTHER
Peaches’ passing has been especially hard on Brandon, who shared his own heartfelt message to honor his furry friend, as he recalled the moment he adopted her and some of the adventures the shared over the last decade.
The sad news came just a few days after the branding specialist, who has been dating Sidibe for almost a year, dedicated a sweet message for the star to commemorate the new year.
He shared a picture posing with Gabby as they rocked “Queen” and “King” sweaters” and added in his caption:
“I’m truly thankful for my close family, friends, associates past and present…and most of all, for THIS Queen right here […] I love you more and more every single day- which seems impossible, but continually amazes me. Here’s to 2020- and thank you for loving me so unconditionally.”
Brandon also made sure to compliment Gabby’s generosity and passion for life, stating that she makes him push himself to become a better person every day.
Gabby replied with her own romantic words on his page, mentioning, among other things, that she’s never been happier in her life.
