STEPPING BACK FROM THE ROYAL FAMILY

Their move is unprecedented in modern royal history and was a long-time-coming after spending months on hiatus from their royal duties. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have distanced themselves from the Royal Family in the past months, celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas in North America with the Duchess' mother.

"We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen. It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment."

A CONFLICTING VIEW FROM THE BUCKINGHAM PALACE

While it seems the Sussex royals' statement had Buckingham Palace's full support, that wasn't exactly the case. Richard Palmer, Daily Mail's Royal Reporter, released a statement from the Queen's office, saying:

"Discussions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are at an early stage. We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through."

With conflicting statements from the Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, many await the truth as to how the royal separation will go about.
