NeNe Leakes' Rep Reportedly Responds after Wendy Williams Revealed She's Leaving RHOA on Her Talk Show

NeNe Leakes’ team has responded after Wendy Williams claimed the reality star is ending her long run on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta." Leakes is, however, keeping silent on the "huge" secret Williams teased.

Williams had the attention of RHOA fans on Tuesday when she spoke about getting a text from Leakes. The message reportedly had to do with the Bravo OG quitting the show, but now there’s an update.

Leakes’ team reportedly reached out to TooFab with an explanation, saying: "It's been an especially difficult couple of weeks for Nene, and she was venting to her friend in private correspondence."

"Nothing has been confirmed or officially decided for next season," the statement added. Leakes is currently appearing on season 12 of RHOA but was absent from the first two episodes reportedly because she was still working on her contract.

On Tuesday morning, Williams shocked her studio audience and, most likely, many RHOA fans at home when she said Leakes would be quitting the show. She was discussing with her guest, "Real Housewives" fan Jerry O'Connell and he was dumbfounded as well.

"I took a break in between commercials. I had to go to the bathroom," Williams recalled. "So I looked at my phone in between commercials and NeNe texts, 'I'm quitting.' 9:08 this morning."

With the latest response from Leakes’ camp, fans are now left wondering if the star’s private "venting" to Williams remains just that. Since "nothing has been confirmed," there’s room for the story to end either way, with Leakes leaving RHOA or staying on.

Following Williams’ bombshell, Leakes also took to social media with a post that, per ET Canada, appears to be an indirect reaction. "WHO SAID DAT!?!?! #SMH," the 52-year-old captioned an Instagram pic of herself.

While Leakes has seemingly addressed quitting speculations, she’s staying silent on Williams’ claims that she is hiding a secret. "I know something about NeNe that you all will cry, be sad, feel bad for her," the talk show maven had said.

Williams, 55, added that her best friend was "carrying the weight of a huge thing on her shoulders," but confirmed it had nothing to do with Leakes’ husband, Gregg, who recently battled colon cancer. She also added that Leakes and her sons are "fine."

Williams continued:

"I'm not going to say it, she's got to say it. In my opinion, Nene, you need this platform to explain the other part of your life… You've got that secret and that secret is going to melt their hearts. When she shared it with me, I cried with her."

It’s not sure if Leakes will ever share the secret Williams refers to, but according to E! News, the current episode of RHOA chronicles Leakes’ rocky relationship with some of her fellow housewives.

While Leakes and co-star Cynthia Bailey carried over a feud from last season, Leakes’ explosive moments this season have involved Kenya Moore, and a new trailer reportedly previews more trouble between the two ladies.
