In 2016, Riley revealed that her drive to become a star was not borne out of a will to escape her family's legacy.

LIVING UP TO EXPECTATIONS

Born into a celebrity family, with her dad being a musician, her mom, the daughter of the historic rock 'n' roll king.

Also, coupled with being the one-time stepdaughter to the legendary king of pop, Michael Jackson, Riley grew up with a lot of pressure on her to live up to her predecessors. The star once said of her grand father's legacy:

"To be magnetic enough to capture the world like that is really fascinating. But I also view him as a family member, which is a hard thing. I don't own him, the world owns him."

The icon, who admittedly prefers a regular life ventured into showbiz early in her career, first as a teenage model, before hitting the movie industry and soaring her way to stardom.

She has starred in movies like "The Girlfriend Experience," "Mad Max: The Fury Road," and her recent twitter thread inspired movie, "Zola," which is set to become a hit.

COMING FROM A LINE OF LEGENDS

Being related to famous figures has in no way influenced her decision to become successful, as it has always been the 30-year-old's dream to make a legacy for herself.

In 2016, Riley revealed that her drive to become a star was not borne out of a will to escape her family's legacy.

She also disclosed that having famous relatives was not something she ever thought about. The actress was keen on making her own money even if it meant taking the long route of shying away from her family's influence.

The approach has worked for the icon, who has since made her name in entertainment through her hard work.
