Idris Elba Says He Has Coronavirus
English actor Idris Elba, best known as John Luther in the BBC One TV show “Luther,” announced through his Twitter account that he tested positive for coronavirus.
In a two-minute video that the 47-year-old actor uploaded to his official Twitter account earlier today, he pointed out that he got done a coronavirus test that came back positive, “and it sucks.” The video, which contains profanity, can be found below.
“This is serious.”

According to Idris, he is doing “okay.” He also said that his wife, Sabrina Dhowre, who was right behind the actor while he recorded the clip, had not been tested yet and was also doing fine.
The “American Gangster” actor revealed that he didn’t show any symptoms and that he only got the test done because he was in contact with someone who tested positive for the virus.
Idris revealed that he had been in self-quarantine since March 13, the day he learned that this person (he didn’t name them) had coronavirus. The actor said:
“This is serious. Now it’s the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands. Beyond that, there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms, and that can easily spread it.”

The actor, who portrayed Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, added that it was time for solidarity and thinking about each other, mainly because the COVID-19 has affected so many people worldwide.
Finally, Idris urged his fans and followers to stay positive and don’t freak out. The English actor is the latest high-profile celebrity who shared his coronavirus diagnosis. Earlier this month, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita announced they also tested positive.
The actor’s son, Chet, shared a video to his Instagram account back on March 11, sharing some details on his parents’ condition.
He assured that they were not worried about the virus and that they were doing fine in Australia, where the “Cast Away” actor was working on a new project.
The Hanks have kept their followers updated on their condition through social media. Tom’s latest post was shared on March 15, and it showed a stuffed kangaroo holding a tiny Australian flag next to an afternoon snack.
For the caption, the actor wrote: “Thanks to the Helpers. Let's take care of ourselves and each other.” Idris Elba’s fans hope that, just like Tom, he keeps them informed about his and his wife’s situation.
