Tamia Hill Only Has a Relationship with One of Her Parents
Tamia was born to a black mother, Barbara, and a white father, whom little is known about. Barbara welcomed the singer when she was 17 and raised her with her three older children in the projects of Ontario, Canada.
Since making a name for herself as a talented singer, Tamia revealed that despite her success, she realized that her father not being a part of her life affected her more than she had initially thought. The "Into You" singer shared:
"I was always happy growing up, but I realize now there are some things missing because of my situation. Now that I have a child, I know the importance of having a father in the household."

Barbara featured on her daughter's social media again in 2022 in honor of Mother's Day, and in the first slide, the pair sat side by side and posed for the camera with smiles. In the second slide, Tamia took a trip down memory lane and shared a snap of her and her mother as she captioned it: "Mommy and friend."

Tamia Hill's Family
In 1999, Barbara's daughter married former NBA star Grant Hill. The couple gave Barbara her first grandchild, Myla, in 2002. Five years later, Barbara's family grew again when her daughter — who has worked with legends such as Quincy Jones — gave birth to her second daughter, Lael Rose.
Tamia and her husband have celebrated over two decades of marriage since they said "I do" in the 1990s; however, it has not always been an easy journey.
In 2003, when Grant contracted a potentially fatal infection, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), in his ankle, his wife was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) the same year. Fortunately, Grant recovered, and his wife has controlled her medical condition all these years with diet, exercise, and medication.
