Hoda Kotb Celebrates Mom Sameha's Birthday with Daughter Haley's Singing Video & Throwback Pics

Television show host Hoda Kotb took to Instagram to share how she and her daughter, Haley, wished her mother a happy birthday.

NBC's "Today" show host Hoda Kotb shared a series of heartwarming photos of her mother, Sami, to celebrate her birthday, on Instagram. The first of the pictures featured Sami holding her granddaughter, Ella, with a bright smile. Hoda captioned:

"A big happy birthday to my mom! April 17 just got a little better... cant wait to celebrate in person.. we love you mom."

The slideshow of pictures repeatedly featured the proud grandma wearing a wide smile with her daughter, and granddaughters, Hayley, and Hope.

Fans took to the comment section to note the resemblance between Hoda and Sami, adding that they especially, shared the same infectious smile.

Sami is in the habit of picking out her daughter's wardrobe.

Hoda followed that post up with a video of Haley rendering the most adorable version of the "happy birthday" song. With her cute violet glasses perched on her face, Hayley gave her "teta" the most important present a grandmother could have.

Social distancing and social isolation have become an essential part of slowing down the spread of COVID-19. However, being in quarantine in separate locations stopped Hoda from celebrating Sami's birthday together.

Hoda opened up about how much she was missing her mother, who was alone in self-isolation during the challenging period. In an episode of her NBC segment, the show co-host said,

"My mom is such an important part of our lives. It's underscored in this moment."

The fifty-five-year-old who was used to seeing her mother face-to-face frequently revealed that they resort to seeing each other via video chat on their phones.

She added that Haley loved the FaceTime conversations and often joined the pair, sometimes running around with the phone, which, of course, tickled Sami pink.

Hoda described the quarantine period as an eye-opener, which brought her to realize how parents felt when they had to be by themselves with no one checking in on them.

Sami has played several significant roles in Hoda's life as her mother and friend. Still, the most interesting bit was that she was in the habit of picking out her daughter's wardrobe, including her wedding dress for her wedding to her long-time partner, Joel Shiffman.

The show host has continued to shower as much love and attention on her mother, as much as FaceTime and texting can allow. The pair has refused to let the distance stop them from bonding.
