Ina Garten Shares Giant Cocktail with Her Husband Jeffrey Amid Self-Isolation
Food Network show host Ina Garten had a chat with Stephen Colbert about cocktails and her experience being quarantined with her husband, Jeffrey.
On May 2, Bestselling cookbook author Ina Garten joined Stephen Colbert for an at-home video chat episode of "The Late Show." Discussing a video she had shared earlier, Ina said:
"I had this glass, and I thought, 'This would be really funny.' I had no idea what was going to happen. It was like a bomb exploded."

In the Instagram video, Ina showed her viewers how to make a cosmopolitan cocktail from the comfort of their homes. Beside her much needed humor, the large cocktail glass she used captured their attention.
What was even more hilarious was that she posted the video at 9 in the morning! That was sure to take people by surprise, especially since that particular time wasn't the typical time to start mixing alcoholic drinks.
The cookbook author explained that she decided to share the recipe that early because, when quarantined, anybody could do whatever they wanted whenever they wanted — including having a gigantic chocolate cake for breakfast.
Garten explained that they felt having kids would not let them have the life they wanted.
During her appearance, she made yet another large glass of her famous quarantine drink — the homemade cosmo. She walked her host through making his own cocktail.
The Barefoot Contessa then informed Stephen that she planned to host a Zoom dinner party after a friend of hers gave her a few tips to make it work. Garten said:
"The key ... is that everybody's eating the same thing, so you not only have that experience of seeing each other."
Garten continued, saying that the experience of seeing the other attendees via video call coupled with smelling and tasting the same food were the main ingredients for a successful Zoom dinner party.
The superstar chef also mentioned what she felt were staple pantry items to stock up on while quarantined. Olive oil, all kinds of pasta, and canned tomatoes were her top three items.
After her cosmo was ready, she then poured it out of her large cocktail shaker into her giant martini glass and called her husband, Jeffrey, to join her. A straw for him and a straw for her.
Ina Garten and her husband have been married for more than five decades and had remained just as in love as they had been when they first met. The pair, however, decided not to have any children.
Garten explained that they felt having kids would not let them have the life they wanted. But the two seem happy being together and sharing the occasional morning cosmo.
