She had her face lit in a hearty smile and sultry makeup. Nails, hair, and jewelry used for complimenting her look were all on fleek even though she was barefoot, and seated on the floor. The celebrant spilled some words of gratitude and acknowledged her well-wishers, fans, and loved ones. She wrote:
"Smiling on another beautiful, blessed and bountiful birthday. Thank you all for the love, support, and birthday wishes. Sending my prayers and love back. God Bless!"
Many fans responded to the post by wishing their favorite celebrity a happy birthday. One fan called her Queen. This isn't far from the truth as the 76-year-old is often called the "Empress of Soul" because of her professionalism and talent.
Before meeting William, the singer had three failed marriages, which produced three children.
Her melodious voice, coupled with her uniqueness and consistency, has earned her more than six Grammy awards. Her family consists of talented individuals, including her brother, and cousins who formed the "Gladys Knight & Pips" group. The group also had their time in the spotlight, with Gladys as the lead.
Sadly, her love life didn't enjoy the same perfection as her career until she met her current husband, Wiliam McDowell. The couple said their "I dos" in 2011 and have been together since then.
Before meeting William, the singer had three failed marriages, which produced three children. Her first marriage to James Newman lasted for thirteen years, and the pair had two children, Kenya and James III.
Barry Hankerson was married to the singer for five years, and their union produced a son named Shanga. Shanga is a restaurateur and doesn't seem to have a great relationship with his mother, and the pair had a court case some years ago.
Gladys wanted to exempt herself from his business, which was named Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles, as her son was committing some financial crimes with his business.
After settlement, the name was changed to The World's Famous Chicken & Waffles. Kenya, however, has a strong relationship with her mother, likewise her son James who was also her manager before his death in 1999.
The "Empress of Soul" doesn't seem to be slowing down even as she ages. Last year she gave a series of perfect performances on stage during her time on "The Masked Singer" competition. She also sang the anthem at last year's Super Bowl competition.
