Alongside an image of the late 27-year-old cradling his daughter while sitting in a hospital room, Justin stated that “#RayshardBrooks was a father of three girls...1, 2, and 8 years old. He should not be dead.”
Rayshard was killed after he resisted arrest and then fought against one of the responding officers using a taser on him.
The “Cry Me a River” hitmaker added that four people had become “victims of racism, violence, and intolerance” while the nation was still on hold concerning “justice for #BreonnaTaylor.”
Justin finished his post by stating that he would provide resources on how to help as he asked his followers to continue to "SAY THEIR NAMES."
As it turned out, Justin wasn’t the only celebrity who has condemned the death of Rayshard as Billie Eilish, her brother, Finneas, Killer Mike, and T.I., have spoken up. Billboard reported that Bruno Mars took to Twitter to weigh in on Rayshard’s passing as he wrote:
“They could’ve easily called someone to take him home and protect his life instead of shooting him in the back like some chumps. I’m sick.”
The publication recalled that Rayshard was killed after he resisted arrest and then fought against one of the responding officers using a taser on him.
It was at this point that the 27-year-old, who had been found napping in his car while causing an obstruction on a Wendy's drive-thru, was shot in the back.
CBS News reported that Rayshard’s death was ruled a homicide after an autopsy discovered that he suffered two gunshot wounds to his back and passed away due to blood loss and organ injuries.
An Atlanta police officer found out to be Garrett Rolfe, has since been fired after Rayshard’s death brought on a fresh round of protests in the city.
According to a department spokesperson, Garrett was hired by the department in October 2013. The second responding officer at the scene, Devin Brosnan, has also been placed on administrative duty. Also, Erika Shields, the city's police chief reportedly resigned a day after the shooting.
