How Jennifer Hudson's Son David Surprised Dad on Father's Day with a Special Treat

Jennifer Hudson's ex-fiance David Otunga shares he felt very loved during Father's Day after his son surprised him with a special three-layered cake made especially for him along with other surprises.

Former wrestler David Otunga spent Father's Day weekend with his son David Otunga Jr., and instead of ordering a cake from a bakery, his son decided to bake him a cake instead. The cake featured three different-flavored layers, particularly vanilla, caramel, and banana, and had green and cream frosting.

Otunga couldn't help but gush about the sweet gesture, claiming they devoured it right after having a delicious steak dinner. Aside from the cake, David and his niece and nephew also gifted him with a special mug and birthday card which touched his heart.

DAVID AND HIS PARENTS

The same way David has a close relationship with his dad, it goes the same for his mom, Jennifer Hudson. While he bonds over sports and many other things with his dad, he and his mom bond over music and movies.

Despite his growing interest in music and movies, however, his parents plan on keeping him away from the spotlight for as long as they can. After all, they believe it's important for him to be brought up in a "normal environment."

JENNIFER AND DAVID'S SEPARATION

It was only in 2019 that Jennifer and David reached an agreement at the Cook County court, ending their year-and-a-half legal battle over child support and custody over their son. The agreements were made behind closed doors, and the settlement was never disclosed.

Hudson and Otunga were engaged in 2008 before welcoming their son David Daniel Otunga Jr a couple of months later.

CO-PARENTING DUTIES

In the past couple of months, however, it's clear the little boy gets to spend time with both his parents and they're doing quite well co-parenting him. After all, they both have strong relationships with their son which they've shared with fans on social media.
