TMZ: Christina Ricci Files for Divorce from Husband James – Everything We Know of Their Impending Divorce

Christina Ricci has filed for divorce from James Heerdegen just six and a half years after they jumped the broom.

Nearly seven years after she walked down the aisle, Christina Ricci has made it clear that she is ready to divorce her film producer husband, James Heerdegen.

The news was broken by TMZ whose report claimed that the “Casper” actress filed for divorce in the L.A. County Superior Court on the morning of July 2nd.

It would be recalled that Christina and James began dating in 2012 after they first met on the set of the ABC series, “Pan Am,” the previous year.

In addition to citing irreconcilable differences as the basis for the divorce, Christina has asked for sole physical and legal custody of their 5-year-old son, Freddie Heerdegen.

Insiders also informed the news outlet that the soon-to-be ex-couple did not sign a prenup as 40-year-old Christina was the one bringing in the big bucks.

The news of the divorce filing, according to People, comes soon after the actress was granted an emergency protective order against James.

According to the site, the order was granted to Christina following her claims that James attacked her during a June 25 altercation in their Los Angeles home. Us Magazine was informed by the Public Information Officer of the Los Angeles Police Department that:

“On 06/25/20, around 9:20 a.m., officers responded to a domestic battery radio call [and] a report was completed.”

Even though no arrest was made, the protective order would act as a deterrent for either party to communicate with the other.

It would be recalled that Christina and James began dating in 2012 after they first met on the set of the ABC series, “Pan Am,” the previous year.

Following their 2013 engagement, Christina told Us Magazine that planning her wedding was “more overwhelming” than she thought it to be. That, notwithstanding, the “Z: The Beginning of Everything” TV show star said she couldn’t wait to start her own family.

Later in 2017, Christina disclosed that both marriage and parenthood changed her life in such a way that she has grown into a different person than she was before childbirth.

The “Lizzie Borden Took an Ax” actress also noted that while marriage revealed a person’s imperfection when handling issues, parenthood strengthened them to grow up quickly.
