As reported by Today, during an appearance on the "Kelly Clarkson Show," the American actress recalled her childhood and how she and her mom used to walk about 4 miles to get to Walmart because their car wasn't working.
Metz has also confirmed that she has no plans to undergo a weight-loss surgery as losing weight is strictly her choice and for her health, not beauty standards.
Unfortunately, whenever they would make the effort, all of it went down the drain as she soon realized that they "didn't have cute clothes for chubby girls."
The “This Is Us” star opened up to Kelly Clarkson about the struggles she faced as a “chubby little girl” which is part of what inspired the actress to partner with Walmart and showcased clothing she believes embodies “confidence-inspiring style.” Speaking about it, she said:
"I think that’s really important, because when we feel good, we do good. All of that. It’s all sort of encompassing."
The 39-year-old announced her partnership with the retail corporation in an Instagram post. As noted by Good Housekeeping, Chrissy Metz grew up in Gainesville, Florida with her mother, stepfather, and siblings.
The actress and singer who has never shied away from sharing how she feels about her body and weight issues wrote in her memoir, “ This Is Me: Loving The Person You Are Today."
In it, she recollected how her childhood was characterized by a lack of food, and that when it was finally available, she felt "like I had to eat it before it disappeared."
The actress also detailed her mother’s struggles on giving up on food to make sure she and her siblings could eat. She described what it was like to be “born chubby” and recounted her experience when she joined "Weight Watchers" at the age of 11.
Her weight also came up when she signed the contract for her role as Kate in “This Is Us.” The Golden Globe nominee revealed that although she was happy to sign it at first, she wasn't put under any undue pressure by the show management as her weight struggles are a large part of her character's story.
Metz has also confirmed that she has no plans to undergo a weight-loss surgery as losing weight is strictly her choice and for her health, not beauty standards.
As reported by The List, Chrissy Metz was married in 2008 to Martyn Eaden but got divorced in 2015. When Metz is not acting, she doubles as a singer in her band Chrissy and The Vapors and intends to drop her debut album and produce her film in 2020.
