TV Line revealed that the image was posted via Christopher’s Instagram page with a simple caption that read, “Ladybug on my face n a lady on my arm #hanginWithBenson.” The picture, which has been liked over 100,000 times, showed Christopher holding Mariska close to him with his arm around her shoulder.

Almost a decade after he “retired” without saying goodbye to his on-screen partner, Christopher is more than ready for his epic return to the franchise for its 22nd season.

While several people dropped love-struck emojis in the comment section, one person claimed that it was the “best thing to literally happen in 2020.”

Amid the outpour of love and admiration, Daily Mail noted that Christopher is set to lead the cast of an all-new “Law & Order” spin-off that would feature with an on-screen reunion with Mariska.

The 59-year-old actor previously played the role of NYPD Detective Elliot Stabler opposite Mariska who acted as his on-partner, Detective Olivia Benson, for the first twelve seasons of the show.

However, Christopher left the police procedural show in 2011, leaving Mariska to continue playing her character — who is now in charge of the Special Victims Unit.

E! Online reported that the actor claimed that he got an unexpected call from the long-running show’s creator, Dick Wolf, and he was excited enough to agree to come back to the show.

Noting that he left without any bad blood between him and the series’ cast and crew, the father-of-two said that he was just tired of the show’s plot lines. As at the time he walked away, he wanted to explore his acting skills from a different angle that included comedic roles.

Christopher subsequently featured in a handful of shows such as “The Handmaid's Tale,” “True Blood,” “Veep,” “Man of Steel,” “Pose,” “Happy,” and “Wet Hot American Summer.”
