According to E! Online, the “Jeopardy” host tweeted a statement that he used to appreciate fans for their concern and announce that if the therapy he is on failed, he “would return to my previous chemo treatment—NOT stop all treatment.”

Alex claimed that if it weren’t for his wife, he would have “put himself out” many years ago. The pair first met in 1988 through the help of a mutual friend.

While noting that his statement about quitting occurred before his “current regimen,” the 80-year-old apologized “for any confusion, and want everyone to know that I am optimistic about my current plan.

It would be recalled that the drama started after the July 21 release of his memoir, “The Answer Is... Reflections on My Life.” Within the pages of the book, Alex explained that:

“I'm going to stick with this current protocol, then that's it. If it doesn't work I'll probably stop treatment.”

The procedure that he referenced in the memoir is the experimental immunotherapy treatment that former Senator Harry Reid used after his own pancreatic cancer diagnosis. With that in mind, Good Morning America reported that Alex hoped that the process would put his cancer in remission as it did for Harry.

Even though he has started seeing an improvement in his health, Alex claimed that if the treatment didn’t work, he had no interest in taking any “extraordinary measures” that would guarantee his “survival.”

Amid all the ups-and-downs, the one thing that has remained constant in the life of the game show host would be his wife, Jean Currivan Trebek.

Fox News noted that Alex claimed that if it weren’t for his wife, he would have “put himself out” many years ago. The pair first met in 1988 through the help of a mutual friend. Despite Alex’s initial worry about the 24-year age difference between them, he and Jean soon became an item.

Closer Weekly added that Jean, who married Alex in 1990, has been using her sound healer skills to “uplift” her husband and provide him with “a sense of ‘life is beautiful’” during his cancer battle. Fans have since made it a habit to encourage Alex and his wife during this tough time.
