As reported by HELLO! Magazine, after the nominations for the 72 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced and it was revealed that Michael Douglas was up for two awards, Catherine took to her Instagram to celebrate him.
Michael is up for the Outstanding Lead Actor award in a Comedy Series while the show is in the run for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Sharing a handsome photo of the actor by the beach with the ocean as the background alongside some snapshots of him on his hit show, “The Kominsky Method,” the former model wrote:
“Some good news! My husband’s shirt matches his location!!!! Oh. And he was nominated for an Emmy for best actor and producer for #thekominskymethod Yay!!!! So proud of you, my love.”
Fans were quick to join her celebration as they voice their praises for the iconic actor. In the Netflix produced comedy series, Douglas plays the role of Sandy Kominsky, a glorified acting coach who once enjoyed success.
This isn’t the first time Michael the 75-year-old has earned some accolades for his riveting performance on the series as he won Golden Globe for Best Actor – Television Series, Musical or Comedy last year.
Closer Weekly notes that this year, Michael is up for the Outstanding Lead Actor award in a Comedy Series while the show is in the run for Outstanding Comedy Series.
If he wins, the Emmys will join his long list of awards, which include two Oscars, six Golden Globes, one Screen Actors Guild Award, and the AFI Life Achievement Award.
The “Fatal Attraction” star is reportedly so accustomed to award ceremonies that he once said in an interview that he and Catherine see them as fun nights to catch up with friends.
Deadline reports that producer Chuck Lorre was delighted about the Emmy nod and described it as “a wonderful moment of gratitude in these dark days.” Michael’s co-actor Alan Arkin is also up for an award in the category of supporting actor for a comedy series, making a total of three nominations for the show.
