Bindi Irwin Looks Back at Her Engagement to Now-Husband Chandler Powell — Check Out Her Sweet Message
Bindi Irwin took a trip down memory lane to the day when she became engaged to the love of her life, Chandler Powell - the man she married just over four months ago.
To mark a very special day in her life, the wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin took to social media to gush about the "incredible man" who is now her husband.
HER LONGTIME LOVE
The couple started dating in 2013, and Bindi recalled the surprise she received on her 21st birthday last year alongside a sweet picture of them together.
"Just over a year ago, @chandlerpowell proposed," Bindi wrote. "Now I get to call this incredible man, my husband. Here's to a lifetime of adventure together. ❤️ My sunshine, I love you with all my heart."
HOW THEY MET
The first time Bindi laid eyes on Chandler, he had joined one of her tours through the Australia Zoo. Chandler was in Australia for a wakeboarding competition, and just looking at him made Bindi's knees weak enough that she could only offer him a handshake.
But the sparks flew between the newlyweds, and they soon started dating, even though it was long-distance at first since Chandler lived in the US and Bindi in Australia.
WHEN CHANDLER POPPED THE QUESTION
After the pair became engaged last year July on Bindi's 21st birthday, she celebrated with gorgeous pictures and wrote:
"On my birthday I said 'yes' & 'forever' to the love of my life. (...) Here's to a lifetime of friendship, purpose & unconditional love."
Even though it didn't turn out to be the wedding Bindi had all planned out since the age of seven, she did marry the man of her dreams - and that was the most important part of it for her.
THE WEDDING PLANS CHANGED
After they became engaged, Chandler and Bindi had their wedding date set for April 4, but then the novel coronavirus became a worldwide pandemic and life as we knew it came to a halt.
As the initial wedding date approached, the couple thought of postponing until they could have their big wedding, but leaned the other way and opted to move up the wedding while adhering to safety guidelines, instead.
WHY THEY MARRIED SOONER
Elaborating on the decision, Bindi shared that they wanted to face whatever the future may hold as a married couple, making the most of today since we don't know what tomorrow might bring.
So, on March 25, the two love birds tied the knot in front of "lots of animals," Bindi's mom Terri, her brother Robert, and their late dad, Steve Irwin's best friend, Wes Mannion.

BINDI'S BIRTHDAY
When Bindi Irwin turned twenty-two on July 24, she celebrated her birthday with a heartwarming and touching tribute to her parents, mom Terri, and her late father, Steve Irwin.
She was still a little girl when she lost her dad, and Bindi shared a video recorded shortly after her birth. In the video, her late father put his experience of becoming a father for the first time in words and called it "the most incredible encounter" he ever had in his life.
