Rose McGowan's Dating History Includes a Musician, Writer, and Artist

Hollywood star Rose McGowan has dated several well-known men; became engaged to some, and married one, while another unexpectedly died.

Since entering the spotlight, "Charmed" star Rose McGowan has been somewhat open about her life. In 2011, the actress, born and raised in Italy, shared her story as a former member of the Children of God.

Her family escaped the cult when she was nine, and although she rebelled against its teachings, they remained embedded in her memory. McGowan said she realized they subconsciously informed how she navigated her relationships. Although the thought horrified her, she still gave love a chance.

Brett Cantor

McGowan dated Brett Cantor in the early 1990s. Cantor was an A&R executive for the Chrysalis Music Group and served as a consultant for various music firms. The New York native was also a well-known businessman in the Los Angeles nightclub scene.

Little is known about his romance with McGowan, but their relationship ended when he was found dead with multiple stab wounds in his Hollywood home in 1993. Over a decade later, in 2006, McGowan attempted to have his case reopened.

Marilyn Manson

McGowan met rock musician Marilyn Manson in 1997, and the pair began a romantic relationship. The actress described Manson as "one of the sweetest people you could ever meet" and shared that her relationship with him provided an escape from responsibility.

"I ran away with the circus. That's what I needed for 3½ years. I just needed to not be responsible — to have fun. Then, eventually, I kind of grew up," she said. They became engaged in February 1999 but separated in 2001.

That year, Keanu Reeves' former girlfriend, Jennifer Syme, died in a tragic car accident, and Manson was accused of having played a role in her passing. The musician is now married to Lindsay Usich. He was previously involved in an allegedly abusive relationship with Esme Bianco.

Robert Rodriguez

McGowan met director Robert Rodriguez in 2006 when the pair worked together in the feature film "Planet Terror." It's unclear when their relationship began, but the news of their engagement broke in October 2007.
