The Times: Princess Charlotte's Teacher Lucy Marries Her Godfather Thomas van Straubenzee – Facts about Their Union
One of Princess Charlotte's teachers got married to one of her godparents in a quiet ceremony, and the duo are expecting their first child together.
Thomas van Straubenzee, a friend of Prince William and Kate Middleton, has married Lucy Lanigan-O’Keeffe in a ceremony that took place in late July.
While it’s good news for the pair, it became even more exciting after The Times pointed out that Lucy is a teacher at Princess Charlotte’s school and Thomas is her godfather.

In fact, Charlotte and her father were supposed to play some roles in the wedding, which was initially slated to hold in April. Unfortunately, Thomas and Lucy had to postpone their wedding plans due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and the restrictions that followed.
Instead of putting their three children on “time out” when they misbehave, William and Kate use something called a “chat sofa.”
They eventually walked down the aisle at Chelsea Old Church, southwest London, on July 24 with just their immediate family in attendance.
While confirming that Lucy and Thomas are expecting their first child together, People reported that Lucy is a senior teacher at Thomas's Battersea — which Prince George also attends.
In addition to handling “mindfulness and outdoor learning” at Battersea, the 32-year-old is also the assistant headteacher at its sister school, which is a few miles away in Clapham.
As for William’s longtime friendship with Thomas, Tatler noted that the duo has known each other since they met at Ludgrove School in Berkshire. Not only are they close, but Prince Harry also shares a bond with Thomas’ younger brother, Charlie.
It has even been claimed that Charlie is Harry’s son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor's “secret” godfather. With a new baby reportedly on the way, Thomas and Lucy will learn a lot from William and Kate, who have adopted an unusual parenting strategy.
According to Good Housekeeping, instead of putting their three children on “time out” when they misbehave, William and Kate use something called a “chat sofa.”
The child is removed from the “scene of the row or disruption” and taken to the sofa where s/he is calmly talked to by either the Duke or Duchess of Cambridge. The strategy allows Kate and William to pay attention to their children without shouting or losing their calm.
