Authentic won the event’s 146th running on Satu with jockey John Velazquez riding behind. Tiz the Law finished second, and Mr. Big News came in third.

The results showed Authentic with an $18.80 win, $6.00 place, and $5.00 show, while Tiz the Law had a $3.40 place and $3.20 show, and Mr. Big News with a $16.80 show.

Bob Baffert, the man who coached the last two Triple Crown winners, Justify and American Pharoah, also trained Authentic.

BAFFERT PRAISES VELAZQUEZ

While Authentic was the main event and the one who raced to victory, his jockey also played an essential role in his win.

Taylor’s mom recalled her daughter to be pleasant and full of life.

Baffert praised Hall of Famer Velazquez for riding the sixth horse he trained who won the derby. “He rode the most incredible race, but he had the horse to do it with,” the horse racing guru said.

PROTESTING FOR BREONNA TAYLOR

While the race went on inside the stadium, protests for justice took place beyond the gates for Breonna Taylor.

Thousands gathered to seek justice for the 26-year-old black woman, who died by a gunshot from three white police officers.

TAYLOR’S SUPPOSED BIRTHDAY

Taylor would have celebrated her 27th birthday in June but instead had her mother mourning. Taylor’s mom recalled her daughter to be pleasant and full of life.

The victim had yet to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse when the cops barged into her home to search for another person and killing her for no apparent reason.

Her death sparked outrage from millions around the globe, including several prominent Hollywood personalities.
