Former first lady, Michelle Obama recently shared a wedding photo with her followers on Instagram. In the sweet post, she left some great advice on marriage.

"Becoming" author, Michelle Obama shared a sweet photo from her wedding in a recent Instagram post. In the youthful snap of her and husband, Barack Obama, a special wedding moment is shown.

Michelle's lasting marriage to the former president is definitely one many could learn from. Fortunately, Michelle revealed some excellent marriage lessons in her post.

In the fun wedding throwback shared with Michelle's 41million followers,  both she and Barack have wedding cake icing on their noses. The former first lady left her followers with some wise words by captioning the post saying:

"It also takes a lot of work; a lot of honesty with ourselves and our partners."

This is definitely advice worth paying attention to as she and Barack have had a lasting marriage and will celebrate their 28th wedding anniversary next month. Michelle then encouraged her followers to share their marriage lessons.

As with every relationship, the Obamas' marriage has gone through ups and downs. During a recent episode on her podcast called, "The Michelle Obama Podcast," the former first lady joked that there were instances during which she wanted to throw her husband out of the window.

The power couple have come a long way since meeting in 1989 while working at Sidley Austin law firm in Chicago.

During the same podcast episode, Michelle opened up about a dramatic moment while she was engaged to Barack. She admitted to removing her engagement ring and throwing it while arguing with her future husband.

She continued to explain that when she threw her ring, she was not giving up on Barack but trying to make a bold point. The 56-year-old added that even when it's difficult you should not quit on your partner.

The power couple has come a long way since meeting in 1989 while working at Sidley Austin law firm in Chicago. Michelle was 25 at the time and was assigned the role of assisting Barack with settling into the firm.

They got to know one another, started dating, and then, two years after meeting, got engaged. Barack surprised Michelle by proposing during a romantic dinner.

The couple now has two daughters together named Malia and Natasha. Michelle is open about the challenges parenting brings to a marriage. Earlier this year in a conversation with Oprah Winfrey, Michelle reflected on how helpful marriage counseling was after she had children.
