A fan simply laughed at the actress while another commented that it looked like somebody already wore the wig and passed it on to her. A displeased fan also told the star point blank that the wig had to go.
A kinder fan expressed that even though the actress was extremely beautiful, she personally did not like the wig as the color did not suit her. McCoy, who had no idea how much backlash she was going to receive, captioned:
"RED HOT….In Mexico BUT live from my IG from tonight's show Cocktails with the Queens, so come thru #FoxSoul #LisaRaye #LifeRocks."

McCoy revealed that colorism in the society had always been off balance.
Known for her signature long locks, McCoy surprised her fans with a purple-tinted pixie cut. When she posted a picture of her red carpet moments from the award show on her Instagram, fans reacted positively.

The star is also an advocate for self-love and contentment. In 2018, she directed a movie titled "Skinned," which addressed beauty, colorism, and the world's perception.
The movie was about a young lady who decided to bleach her skin because she was insecure about her skin color and had a wrong notion of what the world generally accepted as "beautiful."
When asked why she was motivated to direct, McCoy revealed that colorism in the society had always been off balance. She added that she just wanted to preach the acceptance message and also enlighten the world about the dangers of skin bleaching.
The actress has also shown keen interest in embracing her African heritage. During her birthday last year, she was crowned Queen Mother of Ghana in an enstoolment ceremony held at the Cicada Restaurant & Club in Los Angeles.
The ceremony, a renowned African tradition, began in 17th century Ghana. McCoy earned her title for her acts of humanity over the years. The excited actress expressed her honor for being picked to rule Ghana's Central Union in the US.
Birthdays have also been quite the event for the star. During her 53rd birthday last week which was celebrated via a Zoom call, McCoy received a surprise appearance from her sister, rapper Da Brat.
