David Foster & Katharine McPhee Expecting Their 1st Child a Year after Tying the Knot

Actress Katharine McPhee and husband David Foster are expecting their first child together after more than a year of marriage. The duo is excited about the newest addition.

Congratulations are in order for actress Katharine McPhee and her musician husband David Foster as they are welcoming their first child together. A source close to the couple confirmed the great news to People Magazine after the lovebirds were spotted out in public.

The duo was seen grabbing lunch, running errands, and shopping for baby items on Tuesday, October 6, in Montecito, California. The soon-to-be mother proudly flaunted her growing baby bump in a black longsleeved paired with gray sneakers and sneakers while using a baseball cap to shield her face from the sun.

The "Scorpion" actress carried her puppy in a sling across her shoulder while Foster walked behind her. While speaking to E! News, a source explained that the couple was not actively trying to have a child even though McPhee has always known she wanted to be a mother. The insider explained:

"They weren't necessarily trying for a baby but were open to it happening this year. Since work has slowed down for both of them, they knew this year would be a great time for it to happen."

The source also noted that both Foster and McPhee's family have been told about the pregnancy since about a month ago, and everyone is thrilled about the newest addition.

The "Best of Me" crooner [Foster] is a doting dad to daughters Allison, Amy, Sara, Erin, and Jordan, who have all welcomed McPhee with open arms.

The pregnancy news comes over a year after the lovebirds walked down the aisle in an intimate romantic ceremony at the church of St. Yeghiche in London, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Foster and McPhee first met in 2006 when he served as her mentor during season 5 of "American Idol" and connected instantly. Their unborn child would join Foster's five children from his previous relationships.

The "Best of Me" crooner is a doting dad to daughters Allison, Amy, Sara, Erin, and Jordan, who have all welcomed McPhee with open arms. Despite the overwhelming 34-year-age gap between Foster and McPhee, his daughters have no problem with the actress except that she is super hot. The girls described the age difference as a blessing as it has caused their dad to be more open-minded.
