FUN IN THE SNOW
The original film, starring iconic Hollywood couple Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn as Mr. and Mrs. Claus, was a lighthearted comedy, in which two disenchanted Lowell, Massachusetts kids end up helping Santa save Christmas.
This time around, the kids are transported to Santa's magical Christmas village, where they are recruited by Santa and Mrs. Claus to help them save the Christmas star from a thief.
Hawn and Russell met in 1968 while filming "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band"
Bringing his own magic touch to the "Chrismas Chronicles 2" is "Home Alone" director Chris Columbus. The first film was directed by Clay Kaytis, but the original cast from "Chrismas Chronicles" is practically intact.
Columbus' 1990 movie "Home Alone" starring Macaulay Culkin is one of the most successful and highest-grossing Christmas movies of all time, and it would be a major coup for Netflix to score a similar triumph with "Chrismas Chronicles 2."
"Chrismas Chronicles 2" has given Russell and Hawn, who have been together since 1983, the opportunity to play husband and wife on-screen once again. This time, Mrs. Claus will see her efforts recognized as a major contributor to the success of Christmas.
Hawn and Russell met in 1968 while filming "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band." Russell, 16, was smitten but for Hawn, he was just a kid, adorable, but much too young.
In 1983 the two were cast in "Swing Shif," a romantic drama in which Hawn's character, a married woman whose husband is fighting in WWII falls for a charming musician played by Russell.
While their characters fell in love on set, backstage the actors were just as smitten. They've been together ever since, and share a son, Wyatt Russell. The two have always refused to marry, and maintain that that is the secret to their long and successful relationship.
Russell has another son, Boston Russell, 40, from his marriage to actress Season Hubley, whom he divorced in 1983, just before he ran into Hawn once again.
Hawn has two children from her previous relationship with musician Bill Hudson, Kate and Oliver Hudson. Both Kate and Oliver consider Russell their "dad." The couple share 6 grandchildren, who will love seeing grandma and grandpa play Mr. and Mrs. Calus on screen.
