Fans weighed in their disapproval when renowned British footballer David Beckham was seen kissing his 9-year-old daughter Harper on the lips in a picture posted on his wife, Victoria Beckham's Instagram feed.

Famous British footballer David Beckham received backlash from his fans after his wife, Victoria Beckham, posted a picture on Instagram, which showed him kissing his 9-year-old daughter Harper on the lips.

In the photo, she and her father were seen posing in a beautiful room filled with flowers. David was casually clad in a brown shirt and cap, while Harper was dressed in a cream shirt with her hair falling down her shoulder.

The pair was captured sharing a little smooch, much to the dismay of his fans and followers. A particular fan expressed her disapproval with several thumbs down emojis, while another commented that lips were for couples.

An irked fan typed out a full message explaining that it was unnatural to kiss a child on the lips. He went on to say that wives were to be kissed, and the experience was meant to be saved for Harper until she was older.

Some fans, however, expressed their approval explaining that there was nothing wrong with a father kissing his child on the lips. One commented that she understood that it was a way of showing affection.

She added that many cultures had their ways of interpreting the situation, and it was important to know when to separate it from intimacy. She further opined that people just needed to get to that level and stop being weird about it because of their personal issues.

In 2017, after another backlash, David explained that he was very affectionate with his kids.

This is, however, not David's first time receiving criticism for kissing his little girl on the lips. Last December, the proud father posted a series of pictures of the pair having a swell time at the Natural History Museum's ice skating rink.

The first picture showed the football legend sharing a sweet smooch with his then-8-year-old daughter, and as expected, it became a hot topic of discussion among his fans and followers.

In 2017, after another backlash, David explained that he was very affectionate with his kids. He revealed that it was how he was brought up and added that he and Victoria just wanted to show their kids love.

It is also clear that the Beckhams share a tight bond. During the fashion month in September, Victoria gathered her family to attend her Victoria Beckham line show. Her son, 21-year-old Brooklyn, was, however, unable to make it to the event.

Even though the Beckhams were the only guests in attendance due to the pandemic, it was a blissful time for the family. Victoria posted beautiful family portraits from the show on her Instagram feed.

In August, the singer and fashion icon also posted a wholesome video of her husband singing along to her former band, Spice Girls' 1996 hit song, "Wannabe." The clip was an excerpt from "The Late Late Show with James Corden."
