Wendy Williams Fights Back Tears as She Reveals Her Mom, Shirley Williams Has Died
Wendy Williams could hardly hold back her tears as she officially confirmed that her mother, Shirley, has died. Here is everything we know about her final day.
Monday's episode of "The Wendy Williams Show" was a rather sad one as the show's host Wendy Williams revealed that her mother, Shirley, is no longer in this world.
Williams revealed that her mother was surrounded by love as she died peacefully without suffering or pain. The 56-year-old kept the sad news to herself for a long time amid the pandemic.

SHIRLEY DIED WEEKS AGO
In the episode, Williams talked about how her mother passed away many weeks back, and she feels like it was a long time ago. Talking about the experience, she said:
"You know how you lose track of the day and time? All I know was it was a long time ago. The five of us, my mom, dad, my siblings, the five of us — she will always be here."
WENDY'S RELATIONSHIP WITH MOM
Williams then reflected on her relationship with Shirley, saying that they got closer to each other once she went to college. She said they were like two teenage girls.
Shirley was a staple on her show and the fans loved to see her.
Williams shared how her relationship with her mom was pretty girly and giggly right up to the end. They would do their nails and watch reality shows together. Shirley was truly her daughter's best friend.
According to Williams, sometimes she and her mother would even fall asleep while talking on the phone, wake up to each other's voices, and talk about trivial matters.
SHE WAS LOVED
Williams said her mom was the best girlfriend a girl could ever have. As she fought back the tears, she said she feels lucky to have had her. She added:
"I got be strong for my son — this is his first death."
William's family friend Courtney Brown was the first one to break the news on Instagram. She said her grandmother was Shirley's best friend of 83 years. The post has since been deleted.
