Rome Flynn Has a Daughter Kimiko — Facts about the HTGAWM Alum

Chicago actor Rome Flynn who joined "How to Get Away with Murder" for its final season, is the father of a six-year-old daughter, Kimiko.

Actor Rome Flynn has been acting almost since he could talk. As a child, he would entertain his family with impressions of African American movie stars like Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, and Denzel Washington.

Flynn made his dream come true and became famous for his work in "The Bold and the Beautiful," for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama.

GROWING UP POOR

Flynn broke into primetime when he won the role of Gabriel Maddox for the sixth and final season of ABC's hit thriller series "How to Get Away with Murder," opposite Academy Award-winner Viola Davis.

His life today is a far cry from his childhood in Chicago, growing up poor and often homeless. Flynn, his mother, and his siblings would sleep in their car when they couldn't find a place in a shelter.

BECOMING AN ACTOR

He experienced a hard life as a child, immersed in violence, and it took a 5-day-sting in Peoria county jail during which he watched soaps for the first time to waken his acting ambitions.

Watching "The Bold and the Beautiful," Flynn announced his plans to his fellow inmates: He was moving to Los Angeles, and he was going to become a star.

Flynn was encouraged to concentrate on his music after he received a DM from Rihanna telling him she'd heard some of his tracks.

Flynn had hoped to secure his future playing basketball and won himself a scholarship to Benedictine College. The plan was to play football and become a nurse, but fate intervened.

Flynn heard about a casting call for models and actors on the radio, and remembering his dream of acting, attended the auditions. He was stunned when he was called back.

BECOMING A DAD

On December 12, 2014, Flynn and his then-girlfriend, photographer and model Camia-Marie, welcomed their daughter Kimiko. Even though the relationship did not last, the former couple co-parent Kimiko amicably.

Flynn has admitted that becoming a father has made him more determined than ever to succeed and to make sure he will always be able to protect his little girl.

A NEW ENDEAVOUR

Flynn isn't just a talented actor; he is a gifted singer too. After the end of "HTGAWM," he revealed that he would be focusing more of his attention and energy on his music.

Flynn was encouraged to concentrate on his music after he received a DM from Rihanna telling him she'd heard some of his tracks and that he had a great voice. We can expect to see Flynn on the Billboard charts.
