Ellen Pompeo might be the main star of “Grey’s Anatomy,” but she is not the only original cast member working in it nowadays as Wilson and James Pickens Jr. have also been since day one.

Wilson, who has received four Emmy Award-nominations and several accolades for her outstanding performance as Dr. Bailey, recently opened up on the show's future.

NOT ENDING WITH SEASON 17

Since Meredith Grey has been struggling with COVID-19 – even going in and out of consciousness – several people have speculated that Season 17 might be the last one.

However, Wilson shut down rumors by saying that the show won’t end this season, adding that there are a “myriad” of reasons for it, including that the network is not ready.

According to the 51-year-old actress, neither the studio nor the fanbase is ready for a final season. The numbers are “too good,” as well, so they are just going to “wait and see.”

Wilson also hinted that making the last season about COVID-19 might not be the best idea. Still, all actors are ready to bring to life whatever the “creative end” comes up with.

EMOTIONAL REUNIONS

Season 17 has been nothing short of a rollercoaster of emotions, but one of the most shocking things was seeing Patrick Dempsey’s character, Derek Shepherd, back on screen.

Derek and Meredith reunited at a beach in a sort of dream or hallucination that Meredith had after collapsing in the parking lot of Grey Sloan Memorial due to coronavirus.

It was not the only reunion of the season. T.R. Knight’s character, George O’Malley, appeared on the same beach with Meredith, Dr. Bailey, and Pickens Jr.’s Dr. Richard Webber.

According to Wilson, they were all on “watch alert” while filming the scene as they wanted to make sure that the surprise returned remained a secret until the episode came out.

Wilson also revealed that although it’s been 15 years since joining “Grey’s Anatomy,” she still feels refreshed by the storytelling as she learned new things about Bailey with every script.

She pointed out that the story has not gotten old as characters continue to grow, which is what she loves the most about being Bailey. We can’t wait to see how it will end!
