Her parents Jon and Kate have been going through a complicated divorce and messy legal battle for custody of her underage sextuplets siblings which would cause emotional stress for any child.

Kate currently has custody of 4 of the children, Leah, Alexis, Joel, and Aaden while dad Jon has custody of Hannah and Collin. The two older daughters are legally adults and have chosen to live with their mom during college.

Kate has spoken about the twin's new life journey of starting college and shared that it was "the biggest bag of mixed emotion and stress" that she had ever faced.

The two girls had agreed to attend two different colleges as they could not find a school that suited both their needs, interests, and ambitions equally.
