Here's What Richard Thomas Revealed about Marriage with Wife Georgiana in a Candid Interview

Actor Richard Thomas, best known as John-Boy Walton in “The Waltons,” has been married to Georgiana Bischoff for over two decades, and he once revealed his secret.

Born in June 1951, Richard Thomas began his career in the entertainment industry as a child. His Broadway debut came when he was only seven years old in “Sunrise at Campobello.”

In a December 2020 interview, Thomas admitted to feeling lucky for working in such a “crazy business” for over 60 years, adding that only other child actor survivors understand what it takes.

THOMAS AND BISCHOFF’S MARRIAGE

He also named the stages he and the other veteran actors have gone through. They've been child actors, teenagers, young leading actors, leading actors, and supporting character actors.

As per Thomas’s love life, he has been married to Georgiana Bischoff since 1994. The “Americans” actor shared his secret to keeping a successful relationship going for so many years.

Waite was an “uncompromisingly honest” artist who wanted things to be real.

He admitted to being married to the “most honest” and straight-forward person, so he always knows where he stands. Thomas said that they trust each other a lot and have fun together. He added:

“It wasn’t always easy, blending a family of six kids and then having our own son — that’s a big job. It causes tension and challenges.”

Thomas pointed out that he and Bischoff have managed to successfully go through those complicated periods of their lives, even praising themselves for surviving the coronavirus pandemic.

The actor, who has seven adult children, shared parenting advice, as well: let your kids be free to grow into who they are – don’t try to make them be like you.

WORKING WITH RALPH WAITE

In December 2020, Thomas shared some details about working with his late TV dad Ralph Waite in “The Waltons,” which aired from 1972 until 1981 and won Thomas an Emmy.

According to Thomas, Waite was an “uncompromisingly honest” artist who wanted things to be real. Waite also was warm and had a great sense of humor, and he really bonded with Thomas.

Thomas and Tony Award winner actress Kelli O’Hara were featured in one of PBS’s traditional holiday shows: “Christmas with The Tabernacle Choir,” broadcast in December 2020.
