Dumisani Dlamini Is Doja Cat's Estranged Father — What to Know about Him
Famous South African actor Dumisani Dlamini and Doja Cat, the singer who became famous for a viral TikTok video, are related. However, they seem to be quite estranged.
Dumisani Dlamini, 57, is known to most people as Crocodile in the iconic film "Sarafina" with Whoopi Goldberg. For more than thirty years, he has been on-screen and is an icon in the entertainment industry of his native country.
The truth is that not much is known about Dumisani Dlamini's relationship with his famous daughter Doja Cat, 24, as she has repeatedly stated to the media that her father was largely absent from her life.

When the public learned of these family revelations, they were saddened and shocked, especially because the singer's father is a famous actor, film producer, and songwriter Dlamini. When she was with Goldberg, Doja Cat told her:
“I’m just thinking about my dad because he was in Sarafina! So, seeing you and meeting you is like the craziest thing.”
THE ENCOUNTER
This meeting between the famous “Ghost” actress and the young singer took place backstage on the show "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in November 2019. Both women attended the show as guests that night.
Goldberg was there to promote her participation in the adaptation of Stephen King's play "The Stand," and Doja Cat was on the show to perform her hit "Juicy."
BEGINNING A FAMILY
After Dlamini finished the promotional tour for the movie "Sarafina!" he decided to stay in the United States. He had fallen in love with a Judeo-American actress, Debora Elizabeth Sawyer, with whom he had two children.
The actor started a family with her and his two children together, one of whom would grow up to become the now-famous singer and her father's pride. He has commented that his beautiful daughter is conquering the USA, and he, of course, is happy with her success.
ANSWER TO HIS DAUGHTER
The actor has responded to his daughter's claims that she has not met her father. Dlamini said that he has tried multiple times to contact his daughter but has failed.
Doja Cat's father said: “I have been looking for my daughter as well. You mustn't forget these Americans. Americans will always want to have something to cause a stir so that she stays in the media and is talked about around the world. "
CONTROVERSY ABOUNDS
The singer sparked controversy when the clip of her conversation with Goldberg was released to the public, but that was not the first time. She also responded to claims about her skin tone when they accused her of manipulating her pictures to look whiter.
In this regard, Doja Cat said that she is the daughter of a black, South African man and a white, Jewish-American woman. It is normal for her skin to be fair and that when she does not tan, her skin looks very fair.
WHO IS DOJA CAT?
The show personality known as Doja Cat was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, with the name Amalaratna "Amala" Zandile Dlamini. She chose her stage name because of her love for cats.
In her early teens, she released several tracks, such as "So High," featured on "Empire." Her musical style incorporates elements of pop, R&B, rap, hip hop, and psychedelic music, influenced by Christina Aguilera, Busta Rhymes, and Drake.
