'Little House on the Prairie' Will Reportedly Get Its Long-Awaited Reboot — Everything We Know

Fans of Hollywood classics should get geared for their old-time favorite shows, as the “70s” series “Little House on the Prairie” is returning to the big screen.

"Little House on the Prairie" is returning to the big screen for a reboot and media franchises Paramount TV Studios and Anonymous Content would be coming together to collate a one-hour adaptation of the show.

Before the new development, it came as a surprise that little effort was put into plans for the ‘70s drama series' revival over the years. However, it has never really been forgotten.

In over 30 countries, old-time episodes have been airing. Several networks have made the show the most-watched in their locations. Presently Peacock and PBS are planning to start streaming the show’s old episodes.

The drama series had a spin-off titled “Little House” from 1982 to 1983 after the exit of Landon and Grassle.

In 2012, Sony started soaking on new scripts dedicated to “Little House on the Prairie” but the plans fell through when Sony’s chairman, Amy Pascal left the network.

Presently the optimism level is high and the production teams are positive that the show based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s best-selling novels would be successful as planned.

“Little House on the Prairie” premiered in 1974 and ran for nine seasons until 1982. The story revolves around a conventional family living on a farm in Plum Creek near Walnut Grove.

The drama series had a spin-off titled “Little House” from 1982 to 1983 after the exit of Landon and Grassle. Former NBC executive Ed Friendly later got the television rights to Wilder’s novels and curated a two-hour pilot.

While a reboot is in the works, Friendly’s daughter Rebecca runs a popular “Little House” website where fans get to read episode guides and biographical details of the Ingall family.

The website also includes a quiz that asked the question: “Which Little House on the Prairie Character Are You?," and so far fans' reactions and turnouts have given Friendly a hint that TV lovers were ready for the return of the classic drama.

The production team also believes the time is right for a reboot of the amazing television series and they also hold great optimism and enthusiasm as the show returns to the big screen.
