'Soul Food' Star Rockmond Dunbar Is All Smiles on 48th Birthday While Surrounded by His 4 Kids
Rockmond Dunbar celebrated his 48th birthday with his four toddlers, as seen in a sweet Instagram photo: “48 and Loving it!”
Over two decades ago, Rockmond Dunbar starred in the hit family drama with a predominantly Black cast, “Soul Food,” and built his career in the entertainment industry from there.
He has since starred in and produced many other television shows, including “Prison Break,” “The Mentalist” “Sons of Anarchy,” “9-1-1,” “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,” and “The Family That Preys.”

Despite having a successful and busy Hollywood career, Dunbar was also able to focus on building a family with his wife of seven years, fellow actress Maya Gilbert.
The pair celebrated their engagement in Montego Bay, Jamaica, where the actor asked his then-girlfriend to be his wife. They tied the knot soon later and expanded their family with kids.

Dunbar recently celebrated his 48th birthday and showed his fans and Instagram followers the best way he could spend his special day -- with his four children.
While others would have been tired with such a hectic schedule, the actor’s wife still makes time for him before hitting the sheets.
The doting father looked delighted with a big smile on his face, while his four toddlers climbed his sides, back, and shoulders. “48 and Loving it!” he captioned the post.
Dunbar often shares photos of his children on social media as he tries to be a hands-on dad. However, he credits his wife for being an incredible mom and keeping their home in order.
In a Twitter post, he shared that Gilbert wakes up at 4:30 am and begins the day with a CrossFit session. By 7:00 am, she prepares breakfast for their kids and proceeds to her work soon after.
By 5:00 pm, she is home to nurse her little ones and cook dinner, followed by bathing and reading to their kids before bedtime. While others would have been tired with such a hectic schedule, the actor’s wife still makes time for him before hitting the sheets.
As a tribute to his superwoman, Dunbar came up with a few rules for his kids to follow, including respecting her, kissing her before bed and before breakfast, thanking her for everything, and always obeying, among a few others.
Dunbar’s eldest child and only daughter is Berkeley, born in 2013. The three youngest boys are Pharaoh, Czar, and Sultan. Because of the kids’ small age gaps, they all get along well and play with each other.
