Ricky Martin stunned fans on Thursday, taking to his social media accounts to debut his edgy, bleached beard through a stylish selfie taken on the beach as he enjoyed his tropical vacation.

Ricky Martin revealed his new bleached beard on his Twitter and Instagram platforms in a cool photograph snapped by the 49-year-old pop music sensation during his vacation. In the captions, Martin attributed his look to boredom.

Boredom or not, the look garnered hundreds of compliments from fans and the star’s husband, Jwan Yosef. The picture served as a reminder to Martin’s loyal fans of the star’s style evolution.

The former “Menudo” boy band member was only a preteen when he first hit the airwaves in 1977. Since then, Martin has come a long way in having ditched his 80’s with mullets, oversized clothing, and shiny shirts.

To the star’s husband, the daring new look is gorgeous, judging from the heart emojis he left for Martin. However, the change, judging from the split reactions fans had, the look was either hit or a miss. One fan added:

“Dangerous diversion.... how about shaving…”

Despite the opinions, Martin has been a topic of conversation in fashion circles since 2009. That year, the star ditched his Fabio style wardrobe for good and began to flaunt more tailored suits and clothing.
