Gothic rocker Marilyn Manson has lived a controversial life and fostered a bizarre image, but he is now facing a scandal that may bring him down as former fiancée actress Evan Rachel Wood accuses him of being abusive during their relationship.

Manson's ex-wife burlesque artist Dita Von Teese has opened up about her seven-year-long relationship with the rocker, commented on the abuse accusations, and the reasons why she abruptly left him on Christmas Eve, 2006.

DEVASTATED

According to Manson, Von Teese with who he had had a long six-year relationship before marriage, had left him devastated when she suddenly demanded a divorce less than a year after their extravagant wedding. He said:

THE FLIP SIDE

Von Teese, who had married Mason in a lavish ceremony, wearing a flamboyant purple changê taffeta gown by Vivian Westwood, walked out on December 24, 2006, taking with her only her personal effects and her cats.

According to Von Teese, however, the breakup was triggered by Manson's dissipated lifestyle, constant drug use, and his cheating on her with an unnamed woman. The burlesque dancer confessed that the situation was not what she had expected.

DEPRESSION

While Manson claimed that Von Teese's "betrayal" had plunged him into a depression that destroyed his creativity, she had tried to offer the rocker help and support with his addiction issues and to discuss his lifestyle.

Manson had apparently refused her help, and after an incident Von Teese has never discussed, she left the house she shared with him and sought refuge with her family, spending Christmas in Boise, Idaho.

Manson's record label, Loma Vista Recordings. has dropped the singer.

To Manson's accusation that Von Teese was unsupportive she responded, explaining that she was indeed unsupportive of his drug use and his affair with another woman. As to the accusations of abuse against Manson, Von Teese was very clear.

The Queen of Burlesque stated that Manson had never been abusive towards her, and if he had been she would not have tolerated it or married him. And when the rocker cheated, Von Teese left him.

THE EVAN RACHEL WOOD STORY

Wood had previously revealed that she had once been sexually assaulted by someone she had been involved in, and over a decade after the end of her relationship with Mason, she has finally named him as her aggressor.

Wood's accusation encouraged other women that Mason had allegedly abused to come forward with their own stories. Among them are photographer Ashley Walters, model Sarah McNeilly, student Ashley Morgan, and an unidentified artist.

Wood accused Manson of grooming her from the time she was 18, being physically and emotionally abusive and controlling her completely. One of Manson's assistants Dan Cleary said that Manson had broken Wood's spirit,

The other women's stories are remarkably congruent with Wood's accounts, and include being menaced with guns and so terrorized, that one of Manson's alleged victims has since been battling with mental health issues.

DENIAL

Manson, who married artist Lindsay Usich in 2020, has denied any wrongdoing or abusive behavior. He accuses Wood and the other women of using his controversial artistic image to support their claims. He said:

"My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners."

Manson's record label, Loma Vista Recordings. has dropped the singer, and has announced that they will not be promoting his new album, or developing any new projects with him in the future.
