Here's Who Simon Cowell Credits for Helping Nurse Him Back to Health after His Spinal Surgery
Six months ago, Simon Cowell injured his back while trying out an electric bike at his home. The star is now ready to return to his judging, and coaching duties on “America’s Got Talent.”
In August 2020, Simon Cowell, 61, had to sit out of his judging role on “America’s Got Talent (AGT)” after he accidentally broke his back. The star injured himself by falling off an electric bike.
He was taken to a hospital and had to have a five-hour surgery. The next few months saw the star missing season 15 of the fan-favorite show “AGT” while recovering from his injuries.

This month, he confessed to fellow judge Sofia Vergara via Zoom that he felt better and was ready to return for the new season of the talent competition. He shared that his injury hadn’t been that bad.
Cowell admitted that things hadn’t been great for him over the first 3 to 4 weeks, but they got better. He also confessed that he had to do a lot of exercising and felt better now than before the accident.
Showing how well he was, he even joked that if one wanted to feel healthier, one had to break their back. He also teased that the “AGT” cast enjoyed themselves more without it.
On February 24, 2021, Cowell was interviewed virtually by “Extra” about his health. The television personality admitted that his Malibu home accident could’ve been much worse.
He explained that when he saw his X-ray, he realized that he could’ve smashed his spine into pieces. If the accident had been that bad, the star wouldn’t have been able to walk again.
Cowell shared that he’d known his back was broken the minute he landed on the floor. He revealed that the injury had been painful and that one wasn’t supposed to move after such an accident, but he did.
The talent show judge thought at the moment that he needed to get back into the house because he couldn’t just lie there. He ended up in his bedroom that was right at the beginning of his house.
As he lay there, he was starting to pass out. His wife, Lauren Silverman, sat outside the whole night at the hospital as the television personality’s injuries were being tended to.
Cowell also noted how Silverman and their son, Eric, had been amazing during that period. He confessed, “they were like my support,” and he couldn’t have gotten through his injury without them.
Eris then went to Cowell’s bedroom and told him he was like “Ironman” and that soothed the judge.
The “AGT” judge revealed how the incident made them closer to each other. He felt embarrassed by how he looked when he had to go home because he couldn’t walk and had metal rods and screws in his back.
Cowell also didn’t know how to explain his state to his son, but his wife seemingly spoke to the little boy. Eris then went to his father’s bedroom and told him he was like “Ironman,” which soothed the judge.
