Ellen DeGeneres' Wife Portia de Rossi Undergoes Emergency Surgery — inside Her Recovery
Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres reportedly rushed her wife Portia de Rossi to the hospital last week for emergency surgery. We have the details on what happened below.
According to People, Ellen DeGeneres took her spouse to the hospital on Friday night after needing emergency surgery for appendicitis. A rep reportedly revealed that de Rossi is doing well now after the surgery.
The source further explained de Rossi was in a lot of pain; hence she needed to undergo surgery. According to Mayo Clinic, appendicitis is a common condition in which the appendix's lining is blocked and becomes inflamed.
It reportedly causes intense pain, and if not treated immediately – typically with surgery to remove the appendix, the organ can burst. The insider added that the actress is resting at home, and DeGeneres is taking care of her.
While also sharing that it was a scare at first, but everything is good now. According to the outlet, the couple has helped each other through tough times in their health and work lives.
De Rossi was reportedly by DeGeneres’s side throughout the pandemic. At the time, the comedienne and producer had tested positive for COVID-19.
Last month, de Rossie revealed that they have grown together as a couple and are considerate towards one another, and have put their relationship first. She added they have become more solid by doing that and cannot imagine spending time with anyone but her.
Recently, de Rossi’s wife gave her audience and viewers on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show" an update on her condition after undergoing appendectomy surgery. She recalled how she rushed de Rossi to the hospital.
The 63-year-old reportedly revealed that her wife first said she was not feeling well at around 8 p.m; at the time. According to Entertainment Tonight, the pair went to bed early, but DeGeneres soon found her wife "on the floor on all fours."
She recalled rushing her to seek medical attention but not knowing what was wrong with her. De Rossi was admitted, and they sent DeGeneres back home because of COVID-19 protocol.
According to DeGeneres, de Rossi was given a CT scan. The doctors called the following day and told her that the issue was the appendix and they had to remove it.
Regarding her health scare in December last year, DeGeneres announced the news on social media. At the time, she reportedly told her followers that she felt fine after being diagnosed with the virus.
She shared that everyone who had been close in contact with her had been notified and followed all proper CDC guidelines. However, she disclosed she experienced excruciating back pains, which is reportedly one of the symptoms, but she eventually fully recovered.
