Rosalind Ross and Mel Gibson's Love Story — He Welcomed a 9th Baby with Her at 61

Although “Braveheart” actor Mel Gibson and Rosalind Ross are an unusual couple, they have been together for almost a decade and share a child – his 9th.

While the details of Gibson and Ross’s first meeting are scarce, it’s been reported that they met after Rosalind, a screenwriter who studied writing and literature at Emerson College, was hired in Mel’s production company.

Despite their huge age difference (she is 34 years younger), they clicked almost instantly. While they have not tied the knot yet, they have been dating since 2014.

ROSS AND GIBSON’S RELATIONSHIP

Gibson has talked about their age gap in the past, pointing out that it was “just a number” and that their relationship was working out great. He added that Ross was a “really special person.”

Apart from being a talented screenwriter with credits in “Matador” and “Homeward,” Ross is also a champion equestrian vaulter, which is similar to gymnastics on horseback.

In 2010, she won a gold medal at the World Equestrian Games. The following year, the California native posed “au naturel” with her equestrian partner Devon Maitozo for ESPN Magazine’s 2011 Body Issue.

If that wasn’t enough to prove how impressive Rosalind Ross’s career as an equestrian vaulter was, she’s already been inducted in the AVA Hall of Fame.

Although Gibson and Ross have been together since 2014, they made headlines as a couple for the first time in mid-2015 after going on a long holiday in Central America.

The couple kicked off their getaway in Playa Barrigna in Costa Rica, where Gibson owns a 500-acre tropical sanctuary. After that, they went to Panama.

From that point on, the pair have been pretty much inseparable as Ross has been seen with the actor vacationing in Sydney and even visiting him on movie sets.

GIBSON AND OKSANA GRIGORIEVA’S RELATIONSHIP

According to Hello Magazine, the “Lethal Weapon” actor wanted to take his and Ross’s romance slow due to his previous failed relationship with Russian musician Oksana Grigorieva.

With Grigorieva, Gibson had a daughter named Lucia. Unfortunately, things got complicated between the former couple after she accused him of domestic violence.

Worse, audio clips of the actor ranting, using racist and misogynist insults, and even threatening to murder her were released. He eventually described the incident as the “worst moment” of his life.

It was not the first time Mel Gibson was criticized for his behavior. In 2006, he was arrested for driving under the influence and throwing anti-Semitic insults at the officers who took him in custody.

At that point, he was pretty much blacklisted from Hollywood. A devout member of a traditionalist Catholic group, Gibson retreated to his church and spent time praying, going to therapy, and attending counseling sessions.

Gibson made his comeback in 2016 with “Hacksaw Ridge,” a film he directed, and that was critically acclaimed. In fact, he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Achievement in Directing.

ROSALIND ROSS’S BABY

In 2017, and although Gibson and Ross were supposedly taking things slow, she gave birth to his ninth child, Lars. The kid was born in Los Angeles, weighing five pounds, five ounces.

Mel Gibson’s son has eight siblings. Apart from the previously-mentioned Lucia, he has six brothers and one sister, born between 1980 and 1999 (during Gibson’s marriage with Robyn Moore Gibson).

Nowadays, Rosalind Ross is focused on her career and will direct a faith-based film titled “Stu.” While the film's details are scarce, it’s been reported that Mark Wahlberg will be one of the main stars.
