The motive behind the disgraceful act is yet to be ascertained as the record shows no doctor-patient relationship between the late Dr. Robert Lesslie and the former NFL player. Still, authorities claimed that Adams left traces that pointed to him.
According to York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson, who spoke at a press conference, the killer forced his way into the Lesslie home where he killed the 70-year-old doctor, including HVAC technicians he shot in the driveway.
During the press conference, the York County sheriff, Tolson, played audio recordings of the two 911 calls they received at around 4:45 p.m., alerting them to the mass shooting.
One of the callers said he was cutting grass outside the home when he heard about four gunshots before seeing the former NFL player dressed in all back dashing out of the house.
The former NFL star was said to have killed himself shortly after his horrible crime.
The second call was from the boss of 38-year-old James Lewis and Robert Shook, both shot in the driveway. Their boss revealed that one of his technicians called him and asked him to call 911 while screaming that he was shot.
When officers got to the scene, they found Lewis dead while another repairman, Shook, was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.
The family of Shook, a father of three and the sole survivor of the shooting, has urged the public to pray for his recovery, describing him as one who had gone through thick and thin to provide for his family.
Authorities are keen on getting answers but have described the late doctor and his family's loss as a huge shock to the community.
Families were said to have been fond of the doctor who was described as having a large heart. According to Tolson, the doctor, his wife, and their two grandchildren were found together in a room at the back of the house dead.
Adams was reportedly found in a bedroom in his parents' house where he lived on the same street as the Lesslie's. The former NFL star was said to have killed himself shortly after his horrible crime.
Adams was reported to have played college football for the South Carolina State Bulldogs before being selected in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.
