Meghan Markle released her first children's book this week, and it became a best seller on Amazon within 24 hours of its pre-sale release. The book was inspired by her husband, Prince Harry, and his relationship with their son, Archie.

Markle's book is titled "The Bench" and focuses on the relationship between fathers and sons through the lens of the mother. The story was inspired by a poem the Duchess wrote for Prince Harry for Father's day.

"The Bench" was illustrated by Christian Robinson, a Caldecott-winning artist. The front cover shows a scene of a bench under a tree, with a few chickens nearby, a reference to the rescue chickens Markle and Harry have at home.

The inclusive book shows the love between fathers and sons of different backgrounds. For example, Amazon showed a sneak peek of a military dad and his son and a black dad and his son enjoying a snooze outside on the bench.

Markle shared in a press release that she and Robinson had worked together to portray the strong bonds between the families in the book. She described Robinson's artwork as "beautiful and ethereal watercolor illustrations."

Markle hopes many families, despite their differentiating background, will be able to resonate with the book as much as her family. The Sussex family is about to expand as the family will be welcoming a girl soon.

The book will be officially released on June 8. Markle will join the ranks of other published royal authors, such as Prince Charles and Sarah Ferguson, who is also a children's book author.

Prince Harry and Markle welcomed their son, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 6, 2019. The family has a love of reading as for his first birthday, Save with Stories, shared a sweet video of Markle reading to little Archie.
