Michel Stern and Lisa Kudrow's Family — They Share Handsome and Grown-up Son Julian

Lisa Kudrow and Michel Stern have been married for over two decades, proving that love can stand the test of time in Hollywood. When they met, he was dating one of her friends.

In the 80s, Emmy Award-winning actress Lisa Kudrow, who portrayed Phoebe on “Friends” for ten years, lived with a French girl. She was dating Michel Stern, a French advertising executive.

Kudrow had a crush on Stern but didn’t do anything about it out of respect. She thought he was the “perfect man,” but it was “ruined” as she couldn’t flirt with him.

KEEPING IT FRIENDLY

Still, the actress was afraid people could tell she liked him. Whenever Stern went to their apartment to pick the French friend up, he would greet Kudrow, and she would leave the room right after saying “hi.”

According to Kudrow, Stern thought she was a freak. His romance with the French girl lasted less than three months, but the actress didn’t try to do anything about it right away.

Six years later, Kudrow went to her friend’s birthday party, and Stern was invited. They hit it off right away, married in May 1995, and have been together ever since.

Speaking of marriage, the “Web Therapy” star once revealed that, when she and Michel decided to tie the knot, they agreed they were not promising to love each other forever.

COMMITTED TO THEIR MARRIAGE

Instead, they promised to work on the problems that would come up in their relationship, and they have been committed to making their marriage work from the start.

Apart from that, Michel Stern’s wife admitted they respect each other’s independence. It has nothing to do with having extramarital affairs but giving themselves room to do what they like.

Lisa Kudrow’s husband likes golfing and going on golf trips, but she doesn’t enjoy traveling. He still goes as Kudrow believes marriage is like being on a team where each teammate is different but is working toward the same goal. She added:

“I think people get in trouble [when they assume they're] supposed to be one unit, in sync about everything.”

In May 2020, Kudrow and Stern made headlines for celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary apart, but it was not the first time.

Kudrow explained she and her family were quarantining together in their Palm Springs home, but it was too hot for her, so she and her son went to another house.

Michel Stern had to stay in Palm Springs as that house was getting some work done. She added they are so used to spending their anniversary apart that it didn’t bother them much.

[Kudrow’s] son believed her “Friends” co-star Jennifer Aniston was his mother.

Stern and Kudrow welcomed Julian Murray Stern in May 1998, only three years after tying the knot. Now, Julian is 23 years old and recently graduated from the University of Southern California.

The actress has been candid about parenting, and she once admitted nothing could prepare you for being a mother. Kudrow also said Julian never wanted a sibling, and he’s grateful that his parents didn’t have more children.

She also revealed she and the other main characters of “Friends” used to do a huddle backstage and tell each other, “I love you.” During season 4, when Kudrow was pregnant, they would all say, “love you, little Julian.”

Kudrow pointed out that her son believed her “Friends” co-star Jennifer Aniston was his mother as he spent so much time on set. Michel Stern’s son will get to see Aniston and Kudrow working together again in the show’s reunion special. We can’t wait!
