An argument about the price of the services broke out between the owner, a 42-year-old Asian man, and the two young women. Finally, Vara paid for the service and left the store while her young sister continued to argue with the owner.

The suspect then returned to the store and began an argument with the owner again. At this point, the owner tried to push Vara out of his store. She then pulled out a handgun and shot him.
