Man Says He Needs a Break from His Wife and Their 5 Kids, Life Teaches Him a Lesson - Story of the Day

Linda and Frank have been married for 15 years and have five kids together. But when he decides to walk out on his wife and kids, life teaches him a lesson and he gets what he deserves.

Linda and Frank have been married for 15 years. Before meeting Frank, Linda used to have a regular job and her own place. But after they got married and had their children, Frank told Linda it was a good idea for her to stay home with the kids and take care of them.

“Leave your job, sweetie,” said Frank, “I want a cozy home and a big family.”

“But we already have a big family, hon,” she replied. “Aren’t three kids enough?”

“Actually no, we only have girls and I want an heir. We should keep on trying until you give me a son.”

Linda’s health wasn’t going well, and because of that, they started to spend money on medication and different treatments. These added up and they could barely make ends meet. However, Frank wouldn’t forget about the idea of having more children.

“We can’t afford one more baby, Frank,” Linda reasoned. And after a long argument, Frank agreed. But apparently, the man had other plans.

Only three months after delivery, Linda started to feel sick again. “This isn’t possible,” she thought. “I’m taking my pills regularly.” But her period was delayed and she decided to take a pregnancy test and it showed two stripes.

Linda couldn’t believe it. So, she shared the news with her husband. “Frank, I took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. How could it be? I’m on the pill!”

Frank tried to sugar coat and for two hours he enumerated possible reasons why the pills failed. But Linda knew something was wrong and the man wasn’t completely honest with her.

“Well, the fourth child is a bust… but she’s God’s gift,” says the man.

Linda couldn’t control herself anymore. She thought maybe if she says something about terminating the pregnancy, Frank would make a confession. She had a feeling he had something to do with this.

“Frank, I told you already, we can’t afford another kid! And it’s been just a few months since I gave birth to Annie. I think I’d better terminate this pregnancy!”

Right move, Linda. Only then did Frank decide to admit that he switched her pills.

“Ok, I have to tell you something…” begins Frank, “you were taking vitamins. But it’s your fault! I told you I needed a son! I didn’t want to have to do that!”

Linda knew what she had to do. She thought about it several times before. But divorce in her situation would be more complicated than she first thought.

She went to her doctor’s appointment to check the baby but the doc broke the news: “Congratulations, mom! You’re having twins!”

All her thoughts of divorcing Frank were immediately gone. She couldn’t provide for 5 kids alone, so she was forced to forgive him.

Of course, he was happy with having two boys but he hadn’t foreseen that raising many kids would be a big challenge for them. And soon he was sick of the noise of babies crying, so he walked out on his family. “I’m done with this family, I’m taking a time out,” he said and left.

Linda knew it was time to start from scratch. She could only rely on herself and it was up to her to provide for the kids now. Her mom suggested she get a divorce and sue him for alimony.

Her mom also decided to help her and babysit the kids while she looked for a job. After a bunch of unsuccessful attempts, she finally landed one.

During this time, Frank never reached out to her to see whether they had enough cash to live on. She still hoped he’d come around but her work unexpectedly helped her discover the real reason for Frank’s betrayal.

She saw him having lunch with a mistress on a cafe terrace in front of her office. Her heart was broken but she finally understood she should move on.

And her life without Frank got better. The home became quieter, cleaner, and she had more time for herself and the kids. And she even changed her haircut.

She filed for divorce, but 2 days before the court hearing, her husband came home. “I sorted myself out,” says the man, “and I want to come back to you.” He continues, “Oh, what a terrible haircut you have!”

“I also sorted myself out and I don’t want you in my life anymore! And you know, I’m not surprised that your mistress dumped you! You’re a rat! Get out of my house!”

What can we learn from this story?

1. If people act like they can live without you, let them. Frank deceived his own wife because he wanted more kids then walked out on his own family because he was “tired”. He regretted it after his mistress left him but when he returned to Linda, he discovered Linda was better off without him.
2. What a woman is worth does not depend on the desire of a man. Linda figured that her worth shouldn’t depend on anyone, and being independent and having self-respect is the best thing someone can do.
